Checkout the Redesigned Toyota 4Runner for the 2025 Model Year

The Toyota 4Runner has been part of the Toyota lineup for a long time, and it's provided shoppers with quality off-road fun. But now, after ten years, Toyota is finally releasing the sixth generation 4Runner later this fall, and it's going to be a big success. By borrowing elements from the Tacoma pickup, such as the engine options, transmission, and its TNGA-F frame and suspension, drivers will find the new 4Runner a more serious off-road traveler and towing machine. Design

The new Toyota 4Runner is heavily inspired by the Tacoma truck. However, elements aren't just mimicked - some are ripped straight from the Tacoma itself. For instance, Paterson and Fair Lawn shoppers will notice the exterior's new front end is the same as its buttons, instrument cluster, and center stack of the cabin.

Just like the Tacoma, the 4Runner also has a TNGA-F frame and suspension for better off-road capabilities. However, not everything is taken from the Tacoma model, as the new 4Runner offers a large 14.0-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Performance

Along with taking design elements from the Tacoma, Toyota has also taken the engine too. Now, the 4Runner will be powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter i-Force inline-four-cylinder. It, too, will produce 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, and there will be a 2.4-liter i-Force Max 4Runner Hybrid with an electric motor with 278 hp. Both engines will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and, with the right setup, output 326 hp and 465 pound-feet of torque.

Technology

Nyack NY and Hackensack shoppers who make their way into the cabin of the new 4Runner will find a suite of technology throughout. There's an eight-inch infotainment display that comes standard, and it uses Toyota's latest software for better load times and ease of use. There's also an optional larger, 14.0-inch display and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and each display comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, USB-C ports, and a digital key system.

Safety Features

Along with a robust list of tech, Paramus and Bergen County residents will discover Toyota has also given the new 4Runner a suite of driver-assistance features called TSS 3.0. In this bundle, there are features such as automated emergency braking and lane-departure warning, as well as more advanced offerings such as adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering feature and a driver detection system that brings the 4Runner to a stop if the driver is found to be non-responsive.

Trims

The 4Runner is available in seven different trims. The SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Pro make a return, then there are two new models called the Platinum and Trailhunter.

The 4Runner Platinum takes the features of the Limited model and adds even more amenities for a more luxurious on-road experience. These include heated second-row seats, a standard tow-tech package, a head-up display, and automatic rain-sensing wipers.

Then there's the new Trailhunter, which is one of the new higher trims. This off-road-centric model is designed for harsh terrain and includes Old Man Emu dampers, upper control arms, and 33-inch off-road tires to get the job done.
